1. Hornady - Best Wall Mounted Shotgun Safe

Best Shotgun Safes

Highlight: A shotgun wall lock designed to fit traditional style semi-automatic and pump shotguns that have an ejection port on the side.

Helpful review: "I only own one shotgun, so I don't need a full safe. I like the easy accessibility this wall lock provides, while keeping the gun secure. This product meets the California DOJ requirements for firearm safety . It is lined with egg crate foam, so it will not scratch your gun. The Rapid Safe can be used with the included AC adapter (although the cord is pretty short, about 24 inches or so) or 4 AA batteries. The clam shell lid can be opened with a 4 to 6 digit combination (but your only integers to work with are 1-4), a key or with one of four included RFID tags. My wristband tag was not recognized by the safe, so I'm taking off a star from my review. I have contacted Hornady directly about this. As mentioned by others, the lid pops open with some vigor, so I would be careful if mounting this vertically on a wall, especially since there is nothing included on which to rest your gun's stock.
One other thing that affected me, and that I frankly should have researched a little better, is that this wall lock is designed to work with side ejection ports ONLY. My shotgun's ejection port is on the bottom, so if I try to insert the chamber block into the ejection port, the shotgun will be oriented vertically, which prevents the lid from closing. I'm sure Hornady doesn't recommend this, but I solved the problem by simply laying the gun upside down on the foam with the ejection port up against the chamber block. The lid closes fine, and covers the receiver and the trigger. It does slide a bit (about an inch), but I think this can be solved by adding a little block underneath for the stock when I do mount it on the wall. Or, simply mount it horizontally.
Update 4/3/18: I received a response from Hornady customer service today, and it appears that I made a mistake while trying to pair the bracelet with the safe. It turns out that the RFID tag for the bracelet is located near the buckle, and not the decorative medallion in the center of the bracelet. Who knew? Anyway, I am upgrading my review to 5 stars, based partly on their prompt customer service." — T. Sayles
Trending review: "Makes sure where ever you install it there is room for the door to swing open. Keep in mind any attachments you have on your shotgun too (shell carrier, optics, sling). Receiver mounted shell holder and optics will not work with this safe. If you have a stock mounted shell carrier it may not work if mounted to a flat wall (not enough clearance). Mount to a stud!!!!
You get multiple options for access. 2 RFID stickers to stick to whatever you want, 1 RFID key tag and one bracelet or watch and attachment. You can connect up to 5 RFID items. You can use the keypad with a 4 to 6 digit code that you choose. Last is the manual barrel type keys.
Connect to power or run on four (4) AA batteries. If you choose batteries, don't go with cheap dollar store no name batteries. Get good quality batteries!
Yes there are cheaper types of safes. None offer all of these access options. Under stress, keying in a code or using a key is not an option!!! Love the multiple RFID options.
Spend the extra money." — RamFam
Reassuring review: "Fits 12 gauge Mossberg 500 with factory ghost sights and heat shield perfectly. The shotgun sits inside the lock at a slight angle, so I decided to mount the lock at about the same angle to compensate for that. Magazine tube, barrel and front sights fit into supplied muzzle ring without any problems. The ring has a plastic gasket inside to prevent the shotgun from scratching. Mounting lag bolts provided were a bit too small for the holes in the lock, so I used my own larger bolts. Mounted it inside a closet and covered by a couple of bathrobes to make it more discreet. Additional bonus is that those bathrobes soften violent door swing upon unlocking. All RFIDs worked, but the wrist bracelet was too picky about the scanning location to be trusted in a critical situation. I probably won't use RFID at all." — D. & E.

2. V-Line - Best Quick Access Shotgun Safe

Best Shotgun Safes

Highlight: This MADE IN THE USA Shotgun Safe is made of sturdy 16ga. steel and designed to accommodate a home defense shotgun. It can be easily hidden in a closet or behind a door for concealment purposes.

Helpful review: "The Good:
• Fits my Remington Tactical 870 like a glove. Even has room for more rounds
• No clearance issues with butt stock shell holder on
• Fits under my bed (make sure you measure beforehand)
• Multiple options to unlock…push buttons and/or key locks
• No batteries... I have another bio-metric safe and the batteries last 6 months…which could be awful if you needed to get in and they were dead
Other thoughts:
• The elastic band inside really doesn’t serve a purpose…except if you wall mount. I assume this would keep your gun from falling forward
• Would like to see more padding inside
• The longevity of the lock mechanism is questionable...only time will tell.
The Bottom Line:
This is a safe with a purpose and why I purchased it. I wanted to keep my shotgun in something under my bed…not exposed or in a closet… This case was the answer and so far, very happy with it." — AlmostEverything84
Trending review: "I am very pleased with V-line quick access. It holds my Remington 870 with and 18.5 inch barrel, a S&W 9mm 4 1/2 inch barrel and there is still room for a few boxes of ammo. It closes fine with the side saddle on the shotgun. It is pretty solid! It slides in out from under the bed easily. The manual combination lock was the seller for me and it works great. I purchased this case/safe to have quick access my guns for home defense but still know that my children cannot access the guns. You could probably go to work on it with a crowbar and get it open after a while. The locks on the top and bottom could solve that problem, but you lose the quick access at that point. Overall very satisfied!" — mark
Reassuring review: "Works great. Better than an electronic safe that will lock you out if you enter the wrong combo too many times in a stressful situation. That would be bad. Strictly mechanical mechanism. Easy to set combo. Not a burglar proof vault since it is sheet metal, but bolted to a stud in the wall, it would be very difficult to remove. This product is designed to keep a loaded shotgun easily available in an emergency by authorized adults, but safely out of reach of anybody else in the house especially kids. Just be sure you routinely practice opening the safe so that if the need ever arises, you'll be able to open it quickly. In case you forget the combo, write it down and staple it someplace where nobody will easily notice it like to a rafter in the attic. Note that the key locks are not trouble locks in case you forget the combo. They are separate from the combo lock. I don't even use them and keep the keys with the rest of the spare keys. There is padding on the back and the sides, but not inside the door. The company advised me that the strap that holds the shotgun to the back wall will keep the shotgun away from the sharp edges of the locking mechanism inside the door, but I put some duct tape over that mechanism anyway so the shotgun won't get scratched." — Richard B.

3. Hornady - Best Heavy Duty Shotgun Safe for Home and Vehicle

Highlight: Efficient gun storage for tactical length rifles or shot guns housed in a thick 16 gauge steel with four internal hardened locking lugs.

Helpful review: "This safe is wonderful! It fits my 2 PDW's (personal defense weapons) exactly. I store an AR15 with 16" barrel and a shotgun with a 20" barrel which just almost exactly fits the interior length.
Box opening impressions: the safe door opens fast, loud, and then slows gradually down until it is open all of the way. The door depth isn't bad so once the safe is open it would be easy to get out what you need. Comes with plenty of options to open the safe: 2 RFID stickers, a key FOB, a bracelet, and of course 2 backup lock keys to open without battery or outlet power. You can store up to 5 RFID tag signatures so you could maybe buy extra ones and program which ones you will use. The mounting options are impressive because you can secure it either flat or vertical, and includes a cable. Comes with good carpeting inside. The overall quality is a lot more than I would expect for a safe at this price, which is excellent since it's not just a flimsy cabinet or easy to hack, fool, or break open biometric safe.
I cut the included foam blocks down a bit, which are very sturdy, so that I had enough height room for the pistol grips and optics, and it still has enough clearance to fit a magazine. There is enough space to fit two long guns side by side. There is still plenty of room after this quick modification to store more things like handguns, extra magazines, and other valuables.
Pros: affordable price, storage space, durability, opens easily, 5 RFID signatures, side handles,
Cons: safe door opens loud." — Julie Benoit
Trending review: "This safe is just as described. Metal is heavier gauge than I expected, but similar to stack on metal boxes. Code, key or RFID unlock. Room and option to configure interior for one or two carbine length ARs with optics. Room on top like a shelf. Unfortunately it’s a little shot for a shotgun like a Mossberg 590 with stock, but that was more of a wish afterthought. Works with battery or plug in with battery backup. Door is not recessed, so vulnerable to pry attacks, but this is meant to be a fast access secure storage, not a full blown security container. It’s easy to hide in a closet or under a bed and allow you to access it fast. Keep stuff safe from little ones, and delay a bad guy if they found it.
Great size for an SUV or trunk safe.
Three cons:
1 There is no built in light. (Keypad does light up.) Easily solved with motion lights.
2 Noise. You will know when it pops open. Think slamming your silverware drawer. Not a big deal as long as you don’t need to be sneaky or someone is sleeping and you don’t want to wake them. Nice soft open dampener if you mount it vertical on wall.
3 Door is not reversible. This may limit your mounting options if putting it vertical." — BigDawgRR
Reassuring review: "The metal is plenty thick to keep most people away from your stuff. My biggest complaint is that if you want you hide this in the floorboards, you will not be able to engage the lock. Gravity disables the lock for some reason. Locker MUST lay flat as in images if you want the door to function. My RFID bracelet does not work. My Benelli Nova shotgun barely fits in here. Most importantly, California DOJ Legal." — InternetShopping

4. LANGGER V - Best Biometric Security Cabinet for Shotgun

Top-Rated: 533 ratings

Best Shotgun Safes

Credit: Amazon.com

Highlight: Equipped with one-touch biometric system and 9-digit keypad can be programmed, also includes 2 emergency keys for quick access.

Helpful review: "This is a great safe for the price. Can hold 6 rifles or shotguns with no scope on it. I have 4 in there now and the one with a scope, I just put sideways next to my Bullpup shotgun which I put sideways also. The keypad and finger print reader was easy to program. The fingerprint reader works really well. I scanned my thumb 3 different times, which is 12 times cause 1 time makes you scan 3x in different positions. I have opened it a bunch of times and never had it reject it. I even have my wife's in it and no problem. Key is to do as many different positions so no mater what, it will open. The memory can hold 120 prints. So you can open it with the key, number code, fingerprint, or number code with a fingerprint to open. Construction is nice. Can move the shelf to 2 different positions, and you can move the rifle holder up and down to accommodate the length of your rifle. Has a nice lock box in it and it comes with 2 keys and 2 keys for the outside. Comes with some decent anchor bolts to secure it. The construction is very well. The front door is thick and heavy, and the sides and back are steal. Not to heavy duty. Good to keep people out, like my kids and guests, and I would think thieves would have a very hard time getting into it or taking it if bolted. Even if not bolted, it is heavy with the weapons and ammo you keep in it. Just wish it was fire proof. When everything I know about this safe, would I purchase it again....... OH Yeah. It does everything I need it to do and the price is great." — ricorulezpa
Trending review: "This small ,but sturdy, gun safe was just what I was looking for. Small enough to fit in a small closet but big enough to fit 5 medium sized guns with shelf at top position. The shelf was about an inch shy of being tall enough to fit an old shotgun. I raised the shelf by adding a couple of inch thick strips of wood under the shelf for more clearance. For long barrel shot guns you will have to remove the shelf. My Remington 870 came with a 20"slug barrel and a 28" bird barrel. I just put on the short barrel and stowed the long barrel against the back corner of the safe. My deer rifle ( with scope) fit just fine.
I opted for an aftermarket light kit. There are several good options on Amazon. It makes it much easier to see your safe contents.
Fingerprint and passcode setup was quick and simple. The fingerprint reader works most of the time. I registered two fingers and thumb on both hands. If the reader fails I just try a different finger. But in most cases, it works first try.
Locking the door is simple. Just be sure it's closed all the way before you turn the locking handle. Also, be sure the locking pins are in the open position before attempting to close the door.
The inside locking compartment is small but it's adequate to hold some paperwork. Another shelf would have been better.
It comes with a lock out key (2). Also a separate battery pack if your safe lock batteries die. Just install 4 AA batteries in the pack and insert the wire plug into battery port below keypad and enter passcode or fingerprint. According to the user manual, your fingerprints and passcode will remain in the memory even if the batteries die.
Shipping was much quicker than I expected. FedEx actually delivered it on Sunday after Christmas. Packaging was excellent. Lots of foam in the box. It arrived in pristine condition.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this gun safe. IT'S NOT A FIRE SAFE. And if someone wants in it badly enough, they will get in it. But it's going to take some time. It's solid enough to keep out nosey people and kids. Basically, it's built to keep out honest people. Like doors and windows on a house." — Karl L Bissett
Reassuring review: "Great place to keep things safe from the kids but still lightweight enough to get up a flight of stairs and into place with no trouble. It's not a high end lock, and the biometric scanner can be a little fussy, but if you follow the directions and store multiple versions of the same fingerprint at different angles it works well. It secured to the wall easily and is a small enough cabinet that my wife didn't notice it in the corner of the room for two days.
The only downside ended up being my fault - I missed the "w/o scopes" part of the title - so things are a little tight. BUT, by turning the scoped rifles around and removing the tripod from one, there is just enough room for them. Same thing for the shotgun with a mounted light. I could fit a fourth rifle in no problem, but probably not a fifth.
Last, I have to repeat what others have said about the customer service going above and beyond. I sent an email asking about the door hanger, and got an email back almost immediately saying one was in the mail. For free. Who does that? I'm a huge fan, and wouldn't; think twice about buying another one of these if the need arises." — G.P.

5. BARSKA - Best Biometric Fingerprint Long Gun Safe

Top-Rated: 2,396 ratings | 316 answered questions

Best Shotgun Safes

Credit: Amazon.com

Highlight: Stores up to 120 fingerprints for multiple user access and 2.5 sec fast firearm access for home defense.

Helpful review: "I always have bad luck with combination safes, so I was looking for one with a digital combination when I ran across this one. Having the biometrics makes sense to me...why spend the time fiddling with the combo when your finger can do the job? Likewise, I wanted one my wife could open, should she ever need to get a gun, and she can't remember combos worth anything. So this one looked absolutely perfect. I read the reviews and most are pretty negative. However, I still jumped in, headfirst, and figured I'd give it a shot.
With Prime shipping, it showed up in two days, delivered by a UPS driver who wasn't exactly thrilled with heaving the heavy box around (sorry bud!) The box itself was a bit beat up...after all, this is a pretty heavy safe, and it was moved by countless people from place to place. I was worried about the condition of the safe, as the reviews here note that's one of the major issues. Luckily, it's protected by two inches of foam on all sides and after unboxing, I found the safe to be in perfect shape. The only issue was the Barska emblem had fallen off, but was easy enough to replace (it has two Barska emblems, this was one that's above the fingerprint reader, not seen in the Amazon photos...and could be left off if the owner wanted to do so.)
Anyway, I got it maneuvered into place on my own (it's not that heavy, thus requiring securing with bolts) and then went to open it in accordance with the instructions. And that's where I ran into issues. The instructions say to push the "wake up" button on the fingerprint reader, and then it will read any fingerprint, which will unlock the door. So I tried it. And tried it again. And again. And again. No luck. I started getting a little pissed, and finally sucked it up and called Barska's customer service (I'm a guy, we don't ask for directions, right???) I talked to a nice lady there who told me that the design of the safe had changed but the instructions hadn't been updated (brilliant!) She asked if I had the emergency access keys. Yes, I did. In the same bag is an allen wrench. Using that, you have to remove the lower Barska label and low and behold, that's where the emergency key access is (would have never guessed that in a million years and it's NOT in the instructions!) So, using the keys with the newly-uncovered lock, you can unlock and open the door. Once open, THEN you can change the combo. Super easy...but I couldn't have figured that out on my own!
I registered all of my fingerprints and my wife's as well, so both of us can access the safe. I also turned off the loud beeps that the biometric lock makes as well. I went and used a couple four inch lag screws to secure it to the stud in the wall behind it and it seems just fine. Without the screws, not only is it pilferable, but it could easily fall on a kid if they were trying to open it...and even though it's not super heavy, that would be bad, so you have to bolt it to the wall or floor.
Inside, if you have more than a couple guns, you'll probably be disappointed. I only have a couple each of pistols and rifles, but a good bit of ammo, and the shelves worked out for me. There's a pistol holder mounted to the door, but I don't know what kind of pistols they intended it for as just about all of mine (including my concealed carry ones) were too long in the grip and hit the top shelf. So I will probably take off the holder, especially since my guns fit fine on one shelf. Ammo stores nicely on the second shelf, and on the third, lower shelf, even more ammo fits. There are cut outs for rifles all around the inside of the safe, but unless they're really short (we're talking assault shotgun short) nothing will fit in there without removing the lower shelf. I only have a couple rifles/shotguns so they fit fine in the couple of cutouts that don't have a shelf blocking them. I also noted that my one rifle with a scope doesn't fit anywhere in the safe, and to actually secure it in place, I'd have to remove the scope. Since I don't plan on moving the safe, I just put the rifle in at an angle and considered it good at that...but to do it properly, I would remove the scope and I don't particularly wish to do that.
Overall though, I wasn't really surprised about the safe at all after reading the reviews here before buying it, thus my five stars. I LOVE the biometric lock on it, and I knew it was going to be a lightweight safe (I don't think it has a fire rating at all, so don't store your family heirlooms in it...) I also knew that the insides, though claiming to be able to fit a decent number of rifles, really weren't as workable as they are designed to be (and putting the lower shelf right in the middle of where most rifles go makes no sense at all!) However, since I only have a handful of firearms, they fit fine in here and provide a place to store my ammo securely as well. My primary reason for buying it was to prevent my kids from getting into my guns, and it works perfectly for that. It would also give most thieves a run for their money trying to remove it as well. It's not a fire safe, but I didn't buy it for that. I give it five stars because it fits what I need it for, and I'm very happy with it. I wish they'd update their instructions (it's one page...how hard would it be to make new copies? Really??) and so long as you're not expecting to store a large collection of firearms or expect it to protect your guns for two hours of fire or flooding, I really think you'll be happy with it." — David Schwind
Trending review: "This safe is really excellent for what I wanted. This is a quick access safe that will allow you to keep home protection weapons close and ready, but out of kid's hands. The finger print scanner has been very reliable so far. The safe itself is nice looking, with a nice black finish and silver hardware. This was important to me because I wanted to keep this safe out in my bedroom where I can get to it quickly in the middle of the night, not stashed away in a closet somewhere. The safe's colors blend in nicely to the room. I see the compact size as a benefit, because I am able to put the safe next to my tall dresser, and it's not visable from the hallway. This is not a safe to store hunting / target guns with scopes in,,, if you want a roomy, high capacity safe you will pay a whole lot more than what this one costs. I have a shotgun, rifle with no scope and a pistol in this safe, and there is still room for another long gun, pistol and ammo. My shotgun has a light side mounted on it, and this does infringe on another spot, but again I see this safe as being specifically for home defense weapons, so only being able to hold 3 long guns, a pistol and ammo is not a problem for me. Even if I was looking at storing an AR sideways in this safe, I still would not be disappointed. The rubber barrel rest is peel and stick, but that's good because you can fit it to your gun length. The felt mat in the bottom of the safe is loose, but it should be, in case you need to bolt the safe to the floor. You can easily glue it down if you choose, but I like the option of being able to hide the mounting bolts under the felt if floor mounted. The backup battery pack, and hidden key hole are excellent ideas as well.
You absolutely must mount this safe to the wall or floor. It will fall over otherwise, and it could hurt someone, and smash the biometric unit. If you are looking for a quick access, home defense weapon safe, you will not be disappointed with this safe. If you are looking to store your entire gun collection somewhere, you should look for a much bigger safe." — canton ga
Reassuring review: "I received mine today and just finished bolting it to the wall. My thoughts:
Setup - Very easy. All parts and instructions were there and it was simple to register the prints.
Size - I'm not a hunter, gun collector, or paranoid militia nutbag so I only needed something to hold a shotgun and a pistol that I keep for self defense. This holds them comfortably. Shotgun is Mossberg 500 w/ no add-ons & pistol is Ruger LCR. If I had more or larger guns, I would have bought a larger safe.
Sturdy - I was worried it might be a bit too much like the quality of a locking file cabinet but it is a strong, solid safe. Yes, if someone breaks in when I'm not home with an assortment of tools or a blow torch or dynamite they'll probably get in. If they're that determined and are willing to take the risk that I don't come home and walk up behind them with the pistol, then they get to win that round.
Reliability - I took another reviewer's advice and put my same finger prints in several different ways. I found that when I try to open it in a hurry, I tend to not put my finger in as far, so I recorded them that way also. Even before I did it multiple ways, it worked reliably. It's opened by first pushing a button to activate the reader, then holding your finger on the reader and waiting for the confirmation beep. It takes about 3 seconds for me to open from the time I push the button until the door is open so if I see my daughter's date pull in the driveway and he looks like a punk, I'll have plenty of time to be casually cleaning my guns in the background before he gets to the door.
Stability - You do have to bolt it to the wall or floor, or at least to a piece of 2x12 on the bottom that would have to protrude in the front for when the door is open.
Overall - The safe does exactly what I need for a good price. Unless it self destructs in a week, I don't have any complaints." — S.J.

Highlight: The wide, large capacity slide-out drawer accommodates multiple shotguns, rifles (and other firearms) as well as other valuables

Helpful review: "This is a well built safe for the money!! Can buy two of these for what the others want. I bought It because it has a keyed backup. It measures a little bit more than 7" tall. Wasn't a deal breaker though. It has a nice smooth finish and is well constructed. Bottom of the drawer is carpeted which was a plus for me. It has two 5/8" locking bolts on the sides. You have to remove the drawer to install floor anchors. I also used the cable around my bed frame. Just pop out a grommet and push threaded part into safe. Use lock washer and nut inside to the right of drawer, I used a little locktight for added security. The ONLY reason I give this 4 stars is when I had to put the drawer back in after mounting the ball bearing housing bent some and bearings fell out! It still closed ok but not as smooth on the right side. I'm gonna contact the company, once the send me a new rail I WILL change to 5 stars! They are kind of a pain to install because of space and it's tight under a bed period. If you a 2nd amendment gun loving American I can honestly say buy one. All in all. It's a good solid box and lock to store valuables in. I got 2 shotguns(barrel off) and 8 pistols and magazines with NO problems. Still got plenty of room for more. I will most likely buy another. I hope the company makes this issue right!!!! Hope this review helps anybody on the fence. Wasn't any reviews so I said what the hell!
UPDATE.
Had the issue with the drawer rail/track. You remember right?? Anyway. I email Snap Safe, 6 minutes after I pressed the send button(yes six I said) Will with the company called me!! I was very very surprised to say the least. I told him the issue I had and explained my dilemma to him. I emailed him a pic and told him exactly what I needed. Will then emailed me back at 530am the next morning saying that he was again sorry about the problem, and that the new replacement part was on the way. Within another hour he emailed with the UPS tracking number. I cannot say enough about the company's customer service and WILL too!! I would tell everyone I know about this!! It's all five stars for me!!!" — D. Carter
Trending review: "I've been looking at underbed safes for a while and managed to find this in the larger size cheaper than anywhere else.
Pros:
Low cost, convenient underbed location, sturdy steel construction, electronic and manual (key) lock works fine, easy to program and install/set up, drawer rolls out relatively smooth, able to bolt to floor or tether to something, the larger size I received fits a bullpup shotgun and a 36" rifle with room for maybe 2-3 more rifles and many more handguns and ammo, magazines, etc.
Cons:
Box arrived looking like Freddy Krueger had a bad day and took it out on the packaging, the two "L" shaped locking lugs could be more substantial/numerous, buttons beep fairly loud and do not illuminate, when locking it makes a loud thud, cannot mount from the top.
Its a great safe for keeping stuff out of curious hands. It's not water/fire proof, however. Make no mistake, this isn't a vault type of safe. It may slow or deter a thief but if someone really wanted in and had a bit of time, they likely could get in it or carry it off (weighs about 130 lbs. with drawer, empty.)
If you buy this knowing its not a bank vault, you'll be very happy given the price. If you want something to put the Ark of the Covenant or Granny's pearls in, you'll be very disappointed." — John A.
Reassuring review: "Purchased this safe a few weeks ago:
SHIPPING: As other posts mentioned the packaging doesn't hold up very well through the shipping process. The weight of the item compromises the integrity of the package materials. That said - it wasn't that big of a deal and the safe was adequately protected and arrived undamaged.
CAPACITY: The safe holds my rifle, handgun, and ammunition with plenty of room to spare. The safe is too small for my shotgun (20gauge remington) . If the shotgun fit it would have to be placed at an angle -- which would it take up a significant amount of the interior real estate.
OPERATION: Works great and is very straight forward. My only complaint, hence the 4/5, is the audible buttons. It comes with two "soda machine" keys in the event the keypad batteries die.
CONCLUSION: If you are looking for a under the bed safe that won't break the bank this is a fine choice. I almost purchased a more expensive brand ($700 range) and I am very happy I made this purchase instead." — Amazon Customer

7. KAER - Best Cabinet Safe for Shotgun

Best Shotgun Safes

Credit: Amazon.com

Highlight: Shotgun up to 44.68 inches can be stored with the shelf. Long guns up to 51 inches can be stored without the shelf.

Helpful review: "Let’s start at the beginning. The gun safe was packaged very well. Box in a box and metal corner pieces to keep it safe then the safe corners covered with Styrofoam. So by shipping alone I was impressed.
Set Up: Very easy. After removing the safe from the packaging. A little canvas bag had everything in it. From the allen wrench to the mounting hardware. The instructions were also in the bag. So it was very convenient. After unlocking the safe with the provided key I was able to install the 4 AA batteries and set up my code which took a minute tops.
Use Case: This is not a large gun safe. For me I was looking for something I could store my guns in away from my kids and have easy access if needed. I also wanted something that would not break the bank. This fits all of those needs.
Closing; It works well it has customizable shelf depending on the size of your firearms and it has a addition storage space for clips, ammo, and other items. Rides should fit fine I had to turn my shotgun to the side because of how it’s made.
I would definitely consider a larger version if my collection grows or to safely store other items." — The Voice of Lambert
Trending review: "This is a compact safe, which is exactly what we needed in the space we have available. It has an interior light that switches on when safe is opened. This comes with concrete anchors. We just purchased some lag screws from our local hardware store to secure this to the wall and floor through the predrilled holes. We like that it has easily removable shelves inside the top, so it is tall enough to where it can accommodate our hunting rifles and shotguns (with the shelves removed). There is a holster inside the door for a small handgun. There are storage shelves inside the door for ammo or whatever you like. The electronic lock on this is easy to change the combo on, and there is a keylock with two keys for backup, as well as a battery pack to insert into a jack by the keylock and use to open the safe, should the batteries fail. Should someone attempt to open (on the third try) or move the safe, there is an audible alarm. This is a good choice of safe, especially if you have limited space." — Small~Town~Girl
Reassuring review: "I've been hunting for a small stand up gun safe for a while and I'm really glad I purchased this one. I have a shotgun, a 22 rifle with scope, a 9mm, and one 32 revolver, plus some ammo. I also have 4 young kids and needed some additional safety as they are growing and getting more curious. The packaging was superb. It was double boxed with metal corners for support, and the nice foam that doesn't fall to pieces. They had inserted some padding in the door to keep things from scratching, and the mirror finish on the door key cover was double protected. You'd definitely need to bolt this to the wall if you are on carpet. It may sit up better on a hard floor, but since it's so tall and skinny I'd bolt it anyway. The backup key door also comes with a plug to supply power (the little battery pack is included) in case the internal batteries die. The handle and door operate very smoothly and feel extremely solid. The inside padding and structure for holding the guns is high quality, and it's nice to have a little shelf and pocket for a gun on the door. The instructions are well written too, which for some reason is hard to come by these days :)" — Anon
